The Built in Camera on my Mac Book is Freaky
In the terrible movie Die Hard 5 million, the computer geniuses were able to locate a web cam in Kevin Smith’s home and find out where Bruce Willis was hiding, remotely through another computer.
It seemed really ridiculous when I first saw this scene. That was until I got a mac book with a web cam built right into the top of the screen. Being able to access Kevin’s Smith’s web cam seemed silly because it was an external web cam and most people’s web cams aren’t really hooked up or pointed in the right direction. Half the time people don’t even plug them in unless they’re currently using it.
The camera on the macbook is a little different. If your lap top is open and you’re using it, it’s pointed directly at you. It’s also built into the computer so to me it would seem easier to hack into because all macbooks have the same camera. With a web cam, there are a million of different manufacturers so it would seem like it would make it harder to hack. A while back I thought I noticed the green light next to my mac book camera on. At the time I couldn’t remember if that light was always on. I got kind of paranoid so I put a post it note over my camera. I notice now that the light is not always on.
I have no idea if someone was peeping on me at the time or I just had another application running that was using the camera.
Can you imagine that was the new wave of spyware? If every PC computer had a web cam built in it I would guarantee you that hackers would have already figured out how to control every camera and have private videos of everyone in the world like Erin Andrews.
It was like that Geico stack of dollar bills was looking at me…
